Developing the p-factor for grounding
The paper provides alternative formulations for the probability of flooding a compartment due to grounding (the p factor) embedded in the GOALDS database on grounding damage. The original GOALDS formulations employ rational functions for damage distributions, whereas the alternative ones are based on exponential or triangular distributions. This made it possible to arrive at a closed form for the p-factor.
