On May 23 PRS Istanbul Branch Office organized a seminar for Turkish maritime industry representatives. The meeting took place at the Marriot Hotel in Istanbul.

Seminar was dedicated to topics related to Port State Control inspections. Our surveyor from PRS Gdansk Branch Office, Piotr Straszewski, has given the presentations. His first topic was ISM (International Safety Management System) and remarks on the system that appear in PSC records. Then he talked about the inspection regime of the Paris MoU and risk factors that appear for ships. In the last part of the seminar, Mr. Straszewski presented examples of PSC remarks that happen the most often. Later participants discussed cases of detention and ways of reacting and avoiding such situations.

The PSC topic appeared very interesting, judging by the frequency - over 60 people from 40 companies attended the meeting. From the voices we heard afterward from the participants, the PRS seminar was very well received.

We hope the information presented during the event will be helpful in everyday routine and will support ship owners to avoid detention and problems with PSC inspections.
