Classification Survey of vessels in service is performed by PRS in accordance with the corporate regulations. The terms and conditions of such a survey are specified in Part I – Classification Regulations of the applicable Rules for the Classification and Construction.

Following the surveys completed with a positive result, PRS issues or confirms the relevant classification documents.

PRS keeps and publishes Registers containing essential technical and classification data of the vessels classed with PRS.          

Statutory Survey of vessels in service is conducted in accordance with the applicable requirements of the Rules for Statutory Survey of Sea-going Ships, international Conventions, Codes as well as additional requirements set by the Flag State Administrations.

On behalf and under due authority of Administrations, PRS performs statutory survey of vessels, their equipment and of Company offices. The scope and procedure of such survey depend on the authority granted in each particular case.

PRS sets the frequency and scope of these surveys in accordance with the requirements of Rules for Statutory Survey of Sea-going Ships, conventions and other applicable regulations taking into account the requirements of the Flag State Administration.

As a result of successful surveys, PRS issues or confirms the relevant statutory documents.

PRS may also undertake to carry out technical survey of the existing vessels which are not subject to the corporate regulatory requirements. Upon the ship operator’s request, PRS performs technical survey in contractual scope. Such offer enquiry may be addressed to PRS field office or Head Office. The scope of information to be included in the enquiry or request is specified in PRS Supervision Activity Regulations.

As a result of the survey carried out, PRS issues the Certificate of Fitness for Sailing or other document specified in the contract.

The survey, irrespective of its type, is undertaken and performed by PRS under a contract.
