Conformity Assessment Procedures
The Directive 89/686/EEC provides the following conformity assessment procedures applicable at the assessment of personal protective equipment, subjected to PRS certification:
EC type-examination (module B),
declaration of production conformity (module C),
EC quality control for the final product (module C bis2),
ensuring EC quality of production by means of monitoring (module D),
and proceedings established for particular modules.
At the assessment of conformity of breathing devices of diving equipment, the procedures according to modules B + C bis2 or B + D, at manufacturer’s choice, apply.
At the conformity assessment of other personal protective equipment, covered by the PRS notification, the procedures of modules B + C apply.
The notified body participates in the conformity assessment according to modules B, C bis2 and D.
