The Directive 89/686/EEC of 21 December 1989 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to personal protective equipment (1968kB) entered into force in European Union Member States on 1 July 1992.

The Directive has been amended by:
  • Directive 93/68/EEC of 22 July 1993 (154kB),
  • Directive 93/95/EEC of 29 October 1993 (205kB),
  • Directive 96/58/EEC of 3 September 1996 (1881kB),
  • Regulation (EC) No 1882/2003 of 29 September 2003 (218kB),
