Conformity Assessment Procedures
The Directive 96/98/EC defines conformity assessment procedures applicable at
the assessment of marine equipment.
The following conformity assessment
modules have been specified in Annex B to the Directive 96/98/EC:
module B – EC type-examination,
module C – conformity to type,
module D – production quality assurance,
module E – product quality assurance,
module F – product verification,
module G – unit verification,
module H – full quality assurance,
and procedures for particular modules have been presented.
Annex A.1 to Directive 96/98/EC includes conformity assessment procedures
applicable for particular items of equipment. Provision have been made for
procedures of the following modules: B+D, B+E, B+F, and G, but no procedures are
available for modules B+C and H.
Notified body deals with all modules except module C in the stage of design
and production.
The drawing below presents procedures applicable in marine
equipment conformity assessment.
