Certification According to International Ship and Port Facility Security
Code (ISPS Code)
Information for the Owners
Polski Rejestr Statków S.A. offers to the Polish and foreign Companies
certification of ship security systems in accordance with International Ship and
Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code). The Code enters into force 1 July
2004 for the following types of ships engaged in international voyages:
passenger ships, including high-speed passenger craft,
cargo ships, including high speed craft, of 500 t gross tonnage and upwards,
mobile offshore drilling units.
The International Ship Security Certificate is valid for a period of five
years.
Each ship shall carry onboard a ship security plan approved by the
Administration or a Recognised Organization. A Recognised Organization may
prepare the ship security plan for a specific ship, provided the Organization
will not be involved in the plan approval. PRS S.A., as a Recognised
Organization, will render services in the following scope:
approval of ship security plans or amendments thereto on behalf of the
Administration,
carrying out audits onboard ships,
issuing International Ship Security Certificates for compliance with ISPS
Code provisions,
performance of product type approval for ship security alarm
systems.
For the realisation of the above tasks, PRS S.A.:
established ISPS Code Bureau employing experts in scope of security,
conducted informative trainings for Owners/Operators on the requirements of
Chapter XI-2 of SOLAS 74 Convention and ISPS Code,
developed model ship security plan,
developed procedures for audits and certification, and checklists for
carrying audits of ship security systems,
conducts trainings of ISM surveyors/auditors in scope of auditing security
systems in accordance with ISPS Code.
